One-on-one sessions in your home or chosen location, tailored to meet your dog's specific training needs.
Private training sessions are a minimum of 90 minutes focused on you, your dog, your goals, your struggles, and how training will fit into your routine. We come to you in order to create a situation where your dog is most comfortable and least distracted, this helps us gain insight on your relationship and daily habits with your dog.
Initial private sessions are $150, with every follow-up session being $100. Once you have had a private session with us, you can join our group classes for a discounted rate.
Private sessions are suitable for ALL behaviors. Whether you are bringing home a new puppy, struggling with reactivity, or living with separation anxiety or aggression - private training is the best place to start your training journey.
Yes! We encourage anyone handling the dog to participate in the training session. Training requires consistency and clarity, everyone being on the same page with the dog will help the dog learn faster.
It depends! We recommend prioritizing the behaviors that you need to address. The foundations that we will work on together will be easily translatable to all of the dogs in the home. For reactivity and aggression, it is better to work with one dog at a time. Once we have the first session completed, we can make a plan with you to move forward.
Act natural! Show us exactly what you would normally do, so we can see how the dog handles the situation. We ask that you do not feed or walk your dog prior to your session, as food will likely be our primary reinforcer and they will be exhausted by the time we leave. We need to work with a realistic energy level, don't be worried that they are too excited! If your dog has allergies, have lots of safe treats ready. Otherwise, we will come prepared with anything we may need.
EVERYTHING! The fantastic part of private training is that it will be what YOU need it to be. Private training is ideal for basic obedience, advanced obedience, reactivity (human & dog), separation anxiety, nipping/biting, resource guarding, learning to play, redirection, jumping on people, counter surfing, begging, potty training, crate training, aggression, loose leash walking, over arousal, impulse control, body language, and more!
Typically, a minimum of two sessions is recommended. The first session we will review your routine, history, struggles and asses the behaviors of the dog. We focus on teaching you how to effectively communicate with your dog to increase the consistency of the dog's responses and improve your relationship. We will address any unsafe behaviors, as well as give you things to work on once we leave. The second session is scheduled 4-6 weeks later to give you a chance to work on everything without being overwhelmed. During the second session we will recap everything that you have been working on, adjust anything that you are struggling with, and move on to more challenging tasks. The possibility of sessions after this greatly depends on the dog, the severity of behaviors that you are struggling with, the consistency of everyone in the household, and how the dog is responding to the training protocols. We can discuss this during your first session.
We will provide you with homework! Within 48 hours of your session, we will send you a summary of everything that we discuss during your session. We will list these things in order of priority, as we know that the amount of information can be daunting. This process needs to work for you and your routine, and we will help customize your training as much as we can!
